Content:
This book is structured in a progressive way from the easy to the difficult, while working on details so the text is not being guessed.:
- In the first part activities appear for the child to understand that each letter in a word is important and gives importance to a precise reading:
- Knowledge of similar words, changing a letter in a word, to distinguish with which letter a word ends and others (p.15-40)
- After understanding how important precise reading is, solutions are being offered to avoid guessing:
- Identifying letters with which words are starting and ending with an ability to help the child with a precise reading (p.41-67).
- To divide similar words into their syllables for identifying the differences between them. This solution is also a very efficient to read difficult words (p.68-70).
- In the following pages reading exercises appear for the reading of similar words using both techniques – identifying and dividing syllables (p.71-74).
- The following subject is for children who confuse similar letters. The exercises make the child distinguish between the letters which make up the word and to detect errors (p.75-84).
- After, a training is being offered to those students who are guessing the vowels and don’t read the word with its Nikud. These exercises give the child the opportunity to identify the Nikud and to give it importance (p.85-95)
- The exercises of the next pages touch the difficult words with which the student gets trained to: 1) identify difficult words in a sentence or paragraph – to realize which words need special attention. 2) To read the words carefully, using the tool of separating the word in their syllables (p.96-106).
- The last theme in the book is comprehension. Once the child reached the stage where he is technically reading correctly one teaches him the importance of the text so he can benefit from the reading. After going over that material exercises appear which deal with words which are written similarly but their meaning and writing are different (p.107-130)
