Theme of the book:

Acquisition and practice to write the Alef Beis in printed letters.

Purpose of the book:

To teach the children how to write the Alef Bet in cursive, in an easy efficient and experimental way.

Caracteristics:

This book accompanies the child through the writing process, by using resources which are close to his daily life, which should remind him of familiar shapes for writing.

Besides emphasis is being put on writing the letters in their proper proportion to achieve a correct writing on the lines.

Content:

How to write the letters shown with the method “Tomchei Zikaron”, which facilitates for the student to internalize and to remember what he learned before. The memory cards are accessories or actions close to the world of the child, so their appearance or operation make the child associate the form of the letter to write more easily.

The letters are divided into six groups, according to the six memory supports which appear in the first page of the book (p.17-19).

The preliminary stage to start the writing is being realized from the moment when one loosens up the hand (p.20-29).

The acquisition on how to learn the letters is made in a very clear and detailed fashion. During this process the child learns how to write the letters, its proportion, and its correct position on the lines.

To give the child a sense of security and enjoyment with every new letter that is being shown gradually in the following steps (continuing an index is shown with the number of the page for the letter Alef, for the rest of the letters the same steps are being given):

STEP A – the letters are written big, with dots and arrows showing the right direction on how to trace (p.31).

STEP B – the letters are printed in a discontinuous line and the child must trace the lines with pencil (p. 32).

STEP C – to practices the writing of the letters on a page with squares while the helping lines diminish (p.33).

STEP D – writing the letters on the line; here is being expected that the child can write the letter by himself correctly (p. 34).

STEP E – writing of complete words with the letters which have been shown in these steps (p.35).

STEP F – writing of complete sentences, with the goal to propose to the child to keep correct spaces (which does not exist with the first letters).

At the end of the book there are pages to copy whole paragraphs. (p.184-191).

This is a book and a notebook at the same time with the intention to make the work easier for the child and the teacher because they don’t have to use a book and separately a notebook.
