Reading:

  • Practice a quick repetition on the reading subjects: This section continues to establish and to fortify the subject of reading more difficult material, on a higher level and are based what was learned in previous years.

Repeating the Tnuot Gedolot and Ketanot: to refine the distinction between Tnout Gedolot and Ketanot especially when the rule applies of Shva Na- Shva after a Tenua Gedola (p.12-13).

To repeat subjects which need strengthening: to reach a deep internalization of the learned subjects and to avoid errors in its practical application. The chapter repeats in short the following subjects: Kametz Katan, Degashim (letters with an accent), the Chatafim (), the Mapik – dot in the letter Hei at the end of a word , Patacgh Gnuva (when the last letter of a word ends with Ain Chet Hei with Patach), Imot Hakria (א ה ו י  and the reading of complex words inside a text) (p.18-36).

  • Reading without Nikud (punctuation): This chapter focuses on reading without Nikud as taught in the previous year, with the goal to help the children according to an already learned model how to recognize visual signs in a word (p.37-50).
  • Writing in Rashis script: in this chapter a quick review is being done in Rashis script which also has been taught in the previous year. The chapter quickly repeats the identification and writing of Rashi, to make distinction between similar letters and to practice how to read (p.51-60).

Writing:

-A special technique to copy from the blackboard and to write while listening for letters which get confused (same sound but they are different letters), to avoid mistakes in spelling. It has been proven that this method is especially effective and that mistakes in orthography got significally diminished in the children (69-86).
